our thoughts

Last week was the first time I’d seen WordPress’ admin interface shown on a TV show being used by a character. Popular Australian TV soap Home and Away has started a storyline with character Dex Walker creating a video blog.

In multiple scenes, the WordPress admin interface is shown as he decides whether or not to publish his video post entitled “How to be normal”.

Here’s a screenshot from the show:

His blog is hosted at WordPress.com, entitled Dex’s World.

What’s funny is that, while the date has been removed from the permalink on-screen, it’s there in the actual blog, dated back when they would have filmed the scenes in October, rather than the date he published it on the show. Kudos for the writers using WordPress – but the date oversight is a bit of a blooper for anyone visiting the site. The about page isn’t filled in and the default links show.

There’s two other videos up on the site too dated in November, so presumably these will feature on the show at a future date.

Thank you to all the lovely messages of concern and support we’ve had from around the world – clients and others who have checked in to see how we are.

We live in a different city but know many people who have been affected. Thankfully our loved ones are safe, but some have lost much.

This is a very difficult time for our country and we are grieving the loss of many lives.

If you are able to donate, please give to the Red Cross.
