As many of you know, I have a background in lecturing statistics, statistical literacy and on using technology to aid learning as well as blog design. It’s been one of my many goals for years to see a crossover of these two passions of mine and I’m so excited to finally see it come into being!

Stats Chat is a newly-launched blog from the Department of Statistics at The University of Auckland.  They have one of the largest teaching departments and are highly respected with world-renowned researchers and practitioners, and of course is the birthplace of the popular statistical software R. The team there are blogging about statistical issues of interest to the general public – such as the misuse of statistics in the media, current events with statistical connections (especially those relating to New Zealand), links to sites showing new ways of exploring data and more.

I’m proud to be one of the bloggers over there, as well as being behind the design and development of the site. I was interviewed about the blog on Radio New Zealand’s excellent programme called Media Watch this morning.

Go visit Stats Chat!

(For WordPress enthusiasts, it happens to be the first time I’ve used a co-author plugin on a blog as some posts will be collaborative works!)
