Despite their cool features, online organiser tick boxes just don’t give me that same inner feeling of satisfaction as scribbling items out on a piece of paper does.

Yeah I felt the same but I am now using Backback http://www.backpackit.com from the 37 Signals crew to organise all my work and find it to be very productive. You still can’t beat paper post-its for ease of use but having all my check lists or to do lists in one place really helps me.
