Bulk category editing

The thought of clicking into each and every post and changing the categories I’d originally assigned to them was too daunting. Yes, I could go directly into the database or write my own custom script to handle it but time was of the essence.

After some hunting, I found nice Wordpress plugin which makes the job quite a bit quicker. It’s not perfect and possibly not as fast as the database option, but if you’re looking for a way to edit lots of your posts’ categorization, check out this plugin called WP-Cats released in August.

  1. I have a few ideas where I’m going with the plugin, but if you have specific suggestions as to how to remedy the whole “not perfect” problem, I’m all ears. :)

  2. Thanks Mike. Perhaps if there was a way to select all posts or tick a selection of all the posts you want to add to a category at once that would be great, rather that clicking through each post. But you definitely saved me time by not having to go into each post! Thanks :)

  3. Cool, yeah. One request I’ve seen a lot is “add category to everything on this page”, which would be useful for mass-tagging search results.

    The other would be adding something that’s “add the category I last added to this post as well”, which could be as simple as double-clicking the plus-button.

    How are you?

    I like the streamlined look you gave to CRE8D
    I am getting error messages above the header though.

    I was wondering if there was a ’simple’ tool that I could use to create ‘buttons’ say for ‘gift certificate’ link or ‘press reviews’ that I could then add either to my blog or website.

    On another topic, I am taking part in a Global Fundraiser through Blogs called “Menu for Hope’.
    The objective is to raise funds for the UN Food Program. Since we launched the effort a week ago about $25,000.00 have been raised.
    There are prizes for the Asia Pacific region.
